Nature-Based Network

Climate Change

What a year 2020 has been. Never before has the climate (and Attenborough) warned us so clearly to wake up to the degradation of the natural world, the loss of biodiversity, climate change and, in case we weren’t listening, nature has provided a global pandemic to boot.

From the unprecedented floods for the first 3 months of the year followed by a drought in May, more floods in June and the Icelandic winds of early Autumn, the signs of nature out of balance are with us.

The need for a Green Recovery; healing ourselves and our communities through engagement and the healing of nature, has become a clear priority for a sustainable future and the wellbeing of future generations.

Access To Green Spaces

Despite the restrictions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic the Network has continued discussions online thanks to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (PCNP) and the Basecamp platform where issues such as public access to green spaces and Green Health continue to be debated from various perspectives, along with a whole range of other topics.

A series of 5 online workshops organised by WWAMH and PCNP and facilitated by the Wellbeing Planner have also been held during the autumn to provide a discussion forum for network members and to explore the effects of Coronavirus on our work, as well as looking to the future of the Network. A short report from these workshops will be prepared in December 2020. We look forward to continuing this vital and timely work in 2021.
